Student-Centered Services began in 2017 with a focus on providing high-quality Early Childhood Special Education services to schools in Minnesota.
Over the years, that work naturally grew beyond direct services. Supporting students also meant supporting the adults around them—educators, school teams, and families. As my understanding of the brain, nervous system, and behavior deepened, so did the services Student-Centered Services provides.
Today, Student-Centered Services partners with schools and families through special education services, professional development, behavior consultation, and educational resources—all with the goal of helping adults better understand and support the children in their care.
My Story
I'm Becky Knutsen, founder of Student-Centered Services and licensed teacher. I'm so glad you have found your way here!
I've spent more than 25 years working in a variety of roles in early childhood and elementary settings. Today, I provide professional development, behavior support, consultation, and educational resources for educators, caregivers, and schools.
Along with being an educator, I am also a parent. I believe behavior (even our own;) makes more sense when we get curious about what's happening beneath the surface. I'm passionate about helping educators, caregivers, and professionals view behavior through a compassionate, brain-based lens.
I hold a Master's Degree in Education and am an Advanced Practitioner in Robyn Gobbel's Baffling Behavior Training Institute's Immersion Program for Professionals.
